OCR course for Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector comprises of three levels:
OCR Level 3 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector,
OCR Level 4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector,
OCR Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
The course has been developed not only to develop teaching skills but also wider knowledge of developing and managing learning programs. Successful students will also be able to undertake a high level of responsibility in managing the learning process. The teaching course is suitable for prospective teachers who wish to teach any subject/vocational areas.
It is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) and the awarding body is Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations (OCR) and the regulatory body is the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA).
The qualification has been designed to meet the department for Education and Skills' requirement that all new teachers in further education must achieve nationally recognized teacher's qualification and is structured as follows:
OCR Level 3 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector
Mandatory units:
Level 3 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector
Level 3 Planning and Enabling Learning
Level 3 Principles & Practice of Assessment
In addition, a candidate will need to complete other optional units so that they have a minimum of 24 credits to achieve the qualification.
OCR Level 4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector
Mandatory units:
Level 3 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector
or Level 4 Preparing to Teach in Lifelong Learning Sector
Level 4 Planning and Enabling Learning
Level 4 Principles & Practice of Assessment
In addition, a candidate will need to complete other optional units so that they have a minimum of 24 credits to achieve the qualification.
OCR Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector

Level 4 Preparing to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector
Level 4 Planning and Enabling Learning
Level 4 Enabling Learning and Assessment
Level 4 Theories and Principles for Planing and Enabling Learning
Level 5 Counting personal and professional development
Level 5 Curriculum design and Inclusive practice
Level 5 Wider professional practice
In addition, a candidate will need to complete other optional units so that they have a minimum of 120 credits to achieve the qualification.
